Man Kills German Shepherd Puppy, Raises $14,000 Fraudulent GoFundMe

Atlas was a beautiful German Shepherd puppy who died from hemorrhaging and numerous fractures. In only 3 months, the little puppy had suffered traumatic injuries at least 3 times before finally drying from allegedly being beaten to death.

According to the Courier Post, the Shamong New Jersey owner, Reid M. Herjo, was pulled over for speeding on January 22, 2018 and police became suspicious of him when Atlas was seen in the vehicle injured. At that time, Reid told officers the puppy had been hit by an ATV. The puppy died on February 3, 2018. According to authorities, the puppy had sustained additional trauma due to severe abuse.

GoFundMe is a great platform which is occasionally abused. According to NJ.com,the alleged puppy killer Reid Herjo has been banned from using GoFundMe. The campaign for Atlas had raised over $14,000. Everyone who donated will receive a refund.

In this case, according to Patch, the alleged puppy killer was charged with third-degree animal cruelty and third-degree theft by deception. If found guilty, there is a potential for community service.

  1. He needs to get more then just community service for beating poor Atlas. There should be a law that if you mistreat an animal in any way and they die from those in juries you will be charges with murder just or attempted murder just like you would if it was a human. An animal is a living, breathing thing just like a human is and deserves the same rights as we do !!!
