Every once in a while we hear about aggressive German Shepherd Dogs which haven’t been properly taken care of or are running around in city streets. This is very unfortunate and we are always sad to hear these stories.
On Sunday, July 30, 2017, a female German Shepherd Dog, approximately 2yrs old, allegedly gave chase to a man on a bicycle in Riverside, California. According to NBC LA, the cyclist raced down an alleyway and out into Cottage Street. When the biker entered the street, he broadsided a truck which was passing by.
A neighbor’s security camera caught some of the collision on video and were able to provide it to police.
The driver of the vehicle and several neighbors rushed outside to the biker’s aid and were able to scare away the German Shepherd Dog. The biker was then transferred to Riverside Community Hospital. The dog was captured and taken to Western Riverside County Animal Shelter in Jurupa Valley.
At the time of this article, the dog’s owner had not yet been discovered. Anyone with information about this dog or their owner should contact Riverside County Dept of Animal Services (RCDAS) at (951) 358-7387.
Note: The German Shepherd is NOT showing up on the RCDAS website in the lost and found section, likely as the dog is labeled as aggressive for the time being.
Here’s a picture of a 2yr old GSD that RCDAS took in the day before this accident, on July 29, 2017 which will soon be available for adoption:
