Today is 56 days from Aura’s LH Surge. This is not exact.
Previously on the blog I was using the # of days since mating. I am going to go back and change the “day #” to correspond with this new # I am tracking her pregnancy by, which is the same one that NCSU uses. This way my blog posts will match up with my paperwork as well, and I can reference it in the future when I need to without driving myself mad.
The due date remains the same, December 18, 2014. Although, she is usually done 2-3 days early, so we still have our bets on December 15, 2014.
Aura just wrapped up her dewormer! She is 100% healthy and has no worms, but, in dogs, worm larvae lie hidden and dormant within the body of the mom and become active during pregnancy, infecting the pups while they are still in the womb. All pregnant dogs should take a round of dewormer, and again after birth.
Aura is breathing heavier yesterday and today. This is just because the pups are taking up a lot of room inside of her.
We have stopped taking reservations on pups until they are here and delivered and completely accounted for. There are no problems, we just have a lot of interest and people asking if females or males are available and we really shouldn’t be counting our puppies before they’ve hatched. Don’t worry, they will be here in just a few more days.
Interesting side note: NCSU says they have recently had several dogs producing litters of ALL female or ALL male! What are the chances of that? Will we be next? I highly doubt it. We will see soon enough!
